The Internet address is noted as a group of 4 decimal numbers. Each network device on the Internet has a unique address. Some ranges are reserved for private networks, not connected to the Internet.

The directory where atmospherics is installed on the server. The default location is: C:\Program Files\Cloud Systems\atmospherics 2.X on pre-Windows7.

An Internet service that translates domain names into IP addresses for the purpose of locating computer services and devices on a network and worldwide.

The atmospherics server is the computer running the atmospherics control server software. The computer is connected via standard TCP/IP networking to each of the controllable devices.

The atmospherics client is the software interface running on the chosen control head. The control head could be a PC, handheld device, IP phone or other supported device. The client communicates with the server over an IP based network connection. This enables the user to control the system locally or remotely via a network connected PC or device.

Examples:  Flex client, Android app, IPPhone client

A system that determines all the possible valid routes between two A/V devices. A valid route is a route in which the destination is able to accept and process the signal from the source. A route needs to be available in order to be valid.

These are the buttons that will appear in the User Interface for controlling the device. They either system or custom widgets and are configured in the admin interface in a device.  All Widgets are ENABLED by default.

In computer hardware, a port serves as an interface between the computer and other computers or peripheral devices. Physically, a port is a specialized outlet on a piece of equipment to which a plug or cable connects. In atmospherics, a port is a configuration as well as the hardware.

The state of the system communication.  atmospherics actively communicates with devices when the communication mode is ON.

An audiovisual output device to which a signal may be routed, such as a flat panel display, projector or sound system. Any component in a room that receives non-content output or instructions from the atmospherics server, such as lights, retractable screens or videoconferencing cameras, is also a destination.

Each of the units of information of which a device state is comprised

An instruction to be sent to a device to effect a change in its state or to query its state.

A set of devices that are to be controlled as a unit.  A collection of interconnected devices, usually, but not necessarily, reflecting the configuration of a particular physical location.  Device groups can be overlapping; the same device can belong to more than one device group.  Also called a ‘room’  in the clients.

A set of actions triggered when a certain event occurs. Event handlers can load scenes, send e-mail alerts, etc.

Software code that provides atmospherics with information on how to communicate with and control a device. A single device driver can control many devices, and sometimes many different devices that share the same control interface (i.e. different models of the same type of device).

An atmospherics^® user that has been granted permission to create and edit presentations and scenes.

A group of scenes in the same group that share a common theme or are to be loaded in the same event.

The value of all of the attributes of a single device at a particular moment in time.  A device state can be saved and recalled (see scenes).

Inputs and Outputs (ports) in an A/V device.

A cross-platform rich GUI Internet application based on the Adobe Flash platform, which dynamically creates the easy to use and navigate webpages for atmospherics user control.

The party that sets up the system, adds and configures devices, creates groups, creates presentations and scenes, configure access control and any other system configuration task.

To copy the device and routing information into the system memory and to re-establish the connection to the devices for use by atmospherics.   Each time a change is made to the system or device, the information must be copied into memory so the system has the latest device information to use and a new connection is made to the device for communication.

Any piece of equipment used in the system is a device. This applies to all supported hardware, including source and destination equipment, lighting, screen controls, routers, KVMs, and all other controllable or routable elements that are part of the system.  In some cases, a single physical device can be seen as multiple independent devices. For example, an audio switch can that can manage many different audio zones will present each zone as an individual device. 

A system or device for interfacing different communication protocols.   A device that allows atmospherics to communicate to non-IP devices via IP. Gateways translate the commands that atmospherics sends over IP to whatever medium on which the final device receives the message. For example, a product might translate IP based Web Services to BacNET.

Setting the destination of a source device, or, conversely, designating the source for an output device.

A command to force atmospherics to re-issue the device commands to get the latest device status.

A Linux-based open source operating system designed primarily for touchscreen mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet computers, developed by Google.

The means by which end users can effect change on the devices controlled by atmospherics. A client can be a web browser application, a touch panel or a Cisco IP Phone

A communication path between a source and a destination in an Audio/Visual context.

A snapshot of the state of devices belonging to the same device group. A scene does not need to include all the devices in a group, but all the devices need to belong to the same group as the scene.

An event is a change in the state of a tracked parameter, such as a timer being triggered or an error condition being met.
